How am I graded?
Great question! Family & Consumer Science is not like most classes you will take. We often spend days working on projects (aprons, hand sewn whales, pea pod...) therefore my grading is a bit different. My system is broken into three different categorizes: Classroom points, Projects and Tests. Projects and tests are graded in the traditional manner. When students complete a project, they will attach the correct rubric and it will be graded according to the guidelines in the rubric. If a student or parent feels that something has been done incorrectly, we can sit down and discuss the differences. Tests are graded in a traditional manner that most should be used to seeing. If you have any questions on grading of tests or projects feel free to contact me.
Classroom Points Rubric
The next part, classroom points, is where you may see a less traditional
grading system. Each day in my class you will have the ability to earn 20 points. In the picture you can see what areas you can earn points in If you successfully accomplish what is listed then you will earn the 20 points for the day. Say we have a 5 day school week you can earn up to 100. If we have a 4 day school week then the highest amount of points that can be earned in the week is an 80. My courses are for 10 weeks that means you have the potential to earn ten 100's. The power to earn your ten 100's is up to you. Again, if you have questions or concerns please contact me.
